Abstract

A device for introducing a glass melt (12.1) into a float bath during the production of float glass has a spout lip (20) having a surface of the spout lip which comes into contact with the glass melt (12.1) covered with a noble, refractory metal layer (22). The metal layer preferably comprises platinum or a platinum alloy and the spout lip comprises a material having a heat expansion coefficient of 10 to 14 x 10-6K-1, preferably a magnesium aluminate spinel. The metal layer offers high corrosion resistance to the glass melt.
