The solutions so formed have been shown to be useful for solu­ tion spinning into fiber of poly(a(l—>3) glucan) when the spun fiber is coagulated in an acidic coagulation bath. The fibers so pro - duced exhibit desirable physical properties. The poly(a(l—>3) glucan) employed was synthesized by fermentation.
