Abstract

The cooling device (1) has a first pump (3), which with the engine (2) running, passes coolant through a cooling circuit to cool the engine and a radiator to take heat from the coolant. There is also a second cooling circuit including a heat exchanger (10) for heating the vehicle. The cooling device also has a second pump (12), arranged so that with the engine stopped, coolant flows through it and through a coolant heater (13). The second circuit includes means to supply coolant to the first pump when it is active, and to bypass the first pump when the second pump is active.
