Abstract

A device for extracting heat energy from the exhaust gases from an engine in a motor vehicle comprises a unit (17) through which said exhaust gases are intended to be led and which has members with surfaces for heat transfer from the hot exhaust gases to another medium intended to be led through said unit. Said unit is also adapted to cause suppressing of noise deriving from the exhaust gas flow therethrough. It is also advantageous to have an arrangement (4) for catalytic conversion incorporated as a part of the unit.
