Abstract

A vertical axle system for geodetic devices consists of a vertical cylindrical axle 1 comprising a flange 2 and of a cylindrical axle liner 3 in which the vertical axle is mounted. A first centering ball bearing 7, which comprises three ball bearing running surfaces 4, 5 and 6 is provided as a bearing at the upper end of the vertical axle. A second centering ball bearing 11, which likewise comprises three ball bearing running surfaces 8, 9 and 10, is provided at the lower end of the vertical axle. One 10 of the ball bearing running surfaces is disposed on an adjustment ring 12 so that the bearings can be preloaded. The respective three running surfaces of each of the bearings are at an angle to each other dependent upon the axle diameter and the ball bearing diameter. <IMAGE>
