Abstract

The feed device for moist material under high steam pressure conditions, e.g. pre-hydrolysed cellulose material, comprises a material supply means (3), e.g. screw conveyor, forming a homogeneous flow of material to a sluice feed inlet; a sluice feed (5) consisting of two wheels rotating in opposite directions, both of which have cog-like parts; and a pipe (6,7) from the sluice feed outlet, forming a wad of material travelling towards the pipe exit (11), the material being compressed enough so that in conjunction with the material in the supply means and sluice feed, a gas seal is created.
