Abstract

The invention relates to a single-lever mixer battery (tap) which comprises a fixed housing (1) and a hand lever (4) which can be moved relative to the housing in such a way that the mixer battery can be opened and closed by swinging the hand lever up and down while the temperature of the water flowing out can be adjusted by turning the hand lever transversely to the abovementioned directions of movement. The stream of water flowing out of the mixer battery and its temperature are controlled by a shut-off disk which is moved by a spindle (5) connected to the hand lever (4). The essential point of the invention is that the mixer battery is fitted with a spring which turns the hand lever (4) towards the colder end of the temperature control range. The spring comprises, for example, a helical spring (11) which surrounds the spindle. Given sufficiently great friction during the movement of the shut-off disk relative to its mating surface and sufficiently low friction during the rotary motion of the hand lever relative to the housing, it can be arranged that the spring (11) turns the hand lever only when the mixer battery is closed. When the mixer battery is open, it at first always delivers cold water and the spring otherwise does not affect the operation of the mixer battery. <IMAGE>
