Abstract

A method of oxygen-gas delignifying chemical pulps, wherein the oxygen-gas delignification process is carried out at an oxygen-gas pressure above 10 bars. According to one preferred embodiment, the oxygen-gas delignification process is carried out at an oxygen-gas pressure from 15 bars, preferably at 15-20 bars. The oxygen-gas delignification process is carried out on non-bleached pulp or on pulp that is first subjected to oxygen-gas delignification and optionally also to ozone delignification. The pulp may also have been treated with a chelating agent in at least one position in the process.
