Abstract
The method is for forming a heat cable (22) which has an insulated, centrally located resistance wire (23) with a coaxially surrounding back conductor screen (39) and earth screen (41). Connected to the heat cable is a similarly constructed cold cable (20). The resistance wire (23) and the cold cable centrally located conductor wire (21) are brought end to end and joined together. At least one shrink hose (32) is fitted over the joint point and shrunk around it by heat. A first plastic insulating layer (38) is extruded around the resistance wire (23), joint point (35) and the conductor wire (21). - A back conductor screen (39) is fitted over the first plastic insulating layer (38), and a second plastic insulating layer (40) is extruded over the back conductor screen (39). An earth screen (41) is fitted over the second plastic insulating layer (40) and an outer cover (42) is extruded over the earth screen (41).
