Abstract
Heat resistant ceramic material has reinforcement fibres. An essential part is made of steel fibre contg. 2-12 wt.% Al, 12-30 Cr and balance mainly Fe. The reinforcement material pref. mates up 0.1-10 wt.% of the finished product, pref. 1-5 wt.%. The fibres have a dia. of 0.5-10, pref. 0.2-5mm and their length to diameter ratio is 2-1000, pref. 10-100. The fibres are pretreated to produce an aluminium oxide coating which protects the fibre from being destroyed. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used as lining tiles and bricks for industrial furnaces. The reinforced material is temp. resistant upto 1300 deg. C and cracking at high temp. is avoided.
