Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a refractory composition containing ceramic fibers and a silicone polymer as essential components, capable of providing a refractory part having excellent mechanical strength, toughness and dimensional stability without using a reinforcing material and suitable for a fireproofing coating for electric wire, etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition can be produced by compounding a ceramic fiber (e.g. alumina-silica fiber, alumina fiber or zirconia fiber) with a silicone polymer and, as necessary, with 5-600pts.wt. of inorganic powder (e.g. glass powder or asbestos powder) having average particle diameter of 0.01-100mum.
