Abstract

Apparatus for automatical bringing of soft, flimsy, flat articles from an undefined position to a known position. Before mechanical folding of articles such as towels and sheets the article has to be brought into a correct position from an in general undefined. An undefined position arises for instance after drying of laundry when the articles may fall unguided. The articles are from here handled manually as it has shown difficult to automate. The invention solves this problem. The apparatus consists of horizontal bars (2) with clamps (3, 4) for bringing the article along. The bars are moved by a conveyor (5) stepwise to fixed positions from a starting position to an endposition at the same time as tip (B, C and D or E) is sought, gripped and moved to the clamp in question by a front searching device (10), a middle searching device (11) and a rear searching device (12). For gripping and moving of the article in the beginning a loading device (9) is used. The clamps are activated and positioned along the bars by activators (6). In the endposition the article is hanging by two chosen corners in a known position.
