Abstract

A tension frame for fabrics, such as silk screens, has grippers (2) on its sides. The gripper faces inwardly and comprises jaws (2a,2b) to hold the material, and displacement means (3) to move the jaws perpendicularly to the frame, and couple the jaws to the frame. The displacement means comprise a connection piece (6) jointed at one end and coupled to the gripper by a sliding coupling providing relative displacement of the gripper and the fabric in a direction perpendicular to the lengthwise shaft of the gripper. The gripper and its displacement means offer an improved method of gripping material under tension, without badly orienting it in relation to the frame, or damaging the material.
