Abstract

A stack 1 of articles 2 is packaged by compressing it between a pair of sheets 3, 4 of non-elastic material and securing together folded-over edges of the sheets. A tubular wrapper holding the articles in their compressed state is thus formed. The ends of the tube may also be closed by folded over ends of the sheets. More than one stack may be accommodated side-by-side with the sheets having tear lines to enable the package to be separated into individually wrapped stacks. The sheets 3, 4 may be joined by fastening means such as a glue bead 5 or an overlapping third sheet (17, Figure 5). The articles 2 may be absorbent disposable articles such as diapers. <IMAGE>
