Abstract

A hot runner arrangement (1) for injecting plastics material has a heated tubular nozzle section within which is a pointed arch-shaped polymer spreader having an arched profile channel around the outer surface. The channel extends towards an orifice at the front of the arrangement and forms a uniformly heated, cylindrical section of plastic. Pref. the spreader body has a central core at the front end which follows the shape of the outlet flow channel. A central axial inlet channel at the rear of the nozzle changes into a spiral shape around the surface of the central part of the spreader body. The core-shaped central body extends towards the front of the arrangement with decreasing width. An external thread at the rear of the spreader body screws into an internal thread in the tubular nozzle with a means provided for body rotation. USE/ADVANTAGE - In a hot runner system for injection moulding thermoplastics. Prevents formation of flow lines in finished prods., reduces heat loss to the surroundings at the hot runner tip and ensures easier cleaning and exchange of the hot runner components.
