Abstract

A connector for tubes (1) comprises a gripping portion (2) expandable interiorly in the tube (1) and a conical expander portion (3) which, on relative axial movement realized by a drawing device (12, 21) such as a bolt, expands the gripping portion (2). In order to provide good stability and localization of the tube (1), the connector has an abutment portion (5) towards which the thick end of the expander portion (3) faces and which, in the radial direction, projects out so as to abut against and localize the tube end. In one embodiment, the connector has an expander portion (3) and a gripping portion (2) on either side of the abutment portion (5) which is axially shiftable on the drawing device (12). The drawing device (12) is in engagement in a nut (11) in each gripping portion (2).
