Abstract

The plant comprises a burner body with at least two successively arranged non-consumable electrodes which are displaceable heightwise and positioned in the welding seam longitudinal direction. Working in conjunction with the electrodes are nozzles which are exchangeably arranged, whereby at least two of the nozzles ar earranged to work with different light areas either as TIG burners are as plasma burners. The light arc between the electrode and the workpiece is of the open type or one which is restricted to a greater or lesser degree. Around body is a protective gas casing which has a gap passing around the burner body and directed during welding towards the workpiece, producing a laminar protective gas curtain around the electrodes and the nozzles.
