Abstract

The coefficient selection system uses a defined periodic data sequence with a discrete Fourier transformation transmitted along the transmission channel. The discrete Fourier transformation of the periodic sequence obtained from the transmission channel is calculated. The initial discrete Fourier transformation is combined with a reference spectrum and divided by the calculated discrete Fourier transformation to obtain a ratio which is subjected to an inverse discrete Fourier transformation to calculate the equaliser coefficients. The reference spectrum is selected to obtain a pulse characteristic which decreases rapidly.
