Abstract

The present invention concerns an intermediate coupling device, a so-called tilt head, intended to be mounted on the end of a support arm, digger machine arm or the like 2 for carrying a digger bucket, a tool or equipment 3 and designed to permit, on the one hand, rotation of the bucket or the like about an axis situated in the work plane of the machine arm and, on the other hand, to permit pivoting or tilting of the bucket or the like about an axis situated in the same plane, but transverse to it. The rotation is obtained by means of a powered worm screw 12 cooperating with a gear wheel 13, both mounted in a housing 11, the housing 11 being coupled to one of the machine arm 2 and bucket 3, while the gear wheel 13 is coupled to one of the bucket or the machine arm. The novel feature lies in the fact that arranged around the gear wheel 13, transmitting the relative movement between the machine arm and the bucket or other tool supported thereon, there is a brake band 17 which engages peripherally with the gear wheel and which, in the tightened state, counteracts the rotation of the gear wheel 13 relative to the housing 11. <IMAGE>
