Abstract
Process for increasing the heat transfer from gas to a molten pool when combusting furnace gases, in which oxygen is supplied above the surface of the pool for combusting furnace gases issuing from the pool. The invention is characterized in that oxygen is added in such a quantity that the degree of aftercombustion of the furnace gases is at least 20% and in that a quantity of water corresponding to about from 0.05 kg to 0.5 kg per nm3 of outgoing gas is added above the surface of the pool at the same time as the oxygen. <IMAGE>
