Abstract

A primary mineral wool web (1) is deposited by a delivery conveyor (2', 3') essentially horizontally onto a receiver conveyor (11) which runs at a significantly lower speed than that of the mineral wool web (1), as a result of which a secondary mineral wool web with a multiple of the surface weight of the primary web (1) is formed. In order to carry out the folding, air from a blow-off box (33, 34) in the area between the delivery conveyor (2', 3') and the receiver conveyor (11) is blown alternately against the two sides of a freely hanging part of the mineral wool web (1). The mineral wool web is in each case guided sideways so that loops form, the extent of these loops being delimited at the top by delimiting members (the lower ends of 2', 3') parallel to the presented layers of the mineral wool web. The secondary mineral wool web is pressed against the receiver conveyor (11) by means of air currents from blow-off boxes (37, 38). <IMAGE>
