Abstract

The invention relates to an arrangement for firing an ammunition unit in the form of a projectile, shell, missile and the like with little or no recoil force. The arrangement comprises a recoiling mass which is acted on by a backwardly directed recoil force when the ammunition unit is fired. The recoiling mass, which preferably consists of the barrel, the firing tube and the like of the firing arrangement, is arranged so as to be acted on by the forwardly directed force from a rocket engine 15 which acts for a considerably longer time than the recoil force. The rocket engine 15 preferably constitutes a part of the ammunition unit and, when the ammunition unit is introduced into the barrel, is coupled securely to the latter and is started before firing so as to give the barrel a forward movement when firing takes place. <IMAGE>
