Abstract
In the case of known coupling devices, releasing takes place with the aid of a sickle spanner (hooked wrench), which has to be held by hand, to be precise whenever the coupling returns with the hydraulically operating ejector mechanism. Owing to confined conditions, this action is very laborious, and there is a considerable risk of a working accident. The novel coupling device is intended to permit troublefree use with no risk of any working accident. The coupling device comprises a coupling pin (2), which can be connected to the injection mould and bears grooves (30), and a coupling housing (1), which can be connected to a machine and has a number of profiled jaws (10) for engagement with the coupling pin (2). Each of the jaws has in an opening (9) a sloping face for engagement with a conical face (28) of an annular piston (20), which is mounted movably in an annular space (39) in the coupling housing (39). The piston is sealed off from the space (39) and is actuated by means of pressure medium which acts on the piston depending on the intended action. For safety, a number of helical springs (29) are provided, which hold the jaws (10) in the closed position even if there is a loss in pressure. The coupling device has, furthermore, a connection part (16), which can move slightly for the purpose of centring perpendicularly with respect to the longitudinal axis of the coupling device. <IMAGE>
