Abstract

The invention concerns an ignition and exciter connection which comprises an oscillator 1, an amplifier 2 controlled by this and connected to a DC power source, a transformer 4 supplied by the amplifier and a series resonance circuit formed by the secondary winding 4b of the transformer, an impedance coil 5, a condenser 7 and the cathodes 9 of the fluorescent strip, which series resonance circuit has a resonance frequency which principally corresponds to the oscillation frequency of the oscillator, where the fluorescent strip 8 is connected in parallel with the condenser 7. In order to permit sufficient warming up of the cathodes before sufficient voltage for ignition is connected across the light, a procedure is followed according to the invention such that the ratio between the frequency of the oscillator 1 and the resonance frequency of the resonance circuit after the power is connected is controlled during the required warming-up period so that the frequency of the oscillator is essentially higher than the resonance frequency of the resonance circuit. Heating coils 6 are connected in parallel with the cathodes 9 of the fluorescent strip 8, which increases the current through the cathodes during the warming-up stage. <IMAGE>
