Abstract

The invention concerns a frequency-stabilized automatic amplification-regulated ballast system 10 which is connected to a power supply source 12 to drive at least one of a pair of vapour discharge tubes 40 and 40'. Each of the vapour discharge tubes 40 and 40' has its own incandescent filaments 42, 44 and 42' and 44'. A frequency control circuit 11 is connected to the power supply source 12 and has a frequency control transformer 43 and a frequency control capacitor 50 in order to achieve a constant oscillation signal with predetermined frequency. A switch circuit 13 is connected to the frequency control circuit 11 in order to achieve a pulsing current in time with the constant oscillation signal with predetermined frequency. An induction circuit 15 is connected to the switch circuit 13 and the frequency control circuit 11 and comprises an inverter transformer 78 and connection capacitors 86 and 88 in order to achieve a voltage across the vapour discharge tubes 40 and 40'. An automatic amplification circuit 17 is included in the inverter transformer 78, consisting of a pair of secondary windings 80 and 81 wound in such a way that a negative feedback voltage is obtained for each transistor 70 and 70' in the switch circuit 13. The inverter transformer 78 has a pair of primary windings 82 and 84 which operate in turn and are connected to the primary winding 45 of the frequency control transformer 43 in order to achieve a repetitive periodic function. The first and second connection capacitors 86 and 88 are connected to the primary windings 82 and 84 of the inverter transformer 78 and the incandescent filaments of the vapour discharge tubes 40 and 40' for discharging the induced voltage across the tubes 40 and 40'. <IMAGE>
