Abstract

In order to maintain a low level in the separation chamber (26) of a centrifuge rotor out of which fluid is intermittently pumped to a reception point outside the rotor, the flow of fluid out of the separating chamber (7) to the separating chamber (26) of the rotor has hitherto been limited and at the same time a limited amount of fluid has been allowed to leave the separating chamber (26) through a calibrated outlet. According to the invention, the calibrated outlet (37,38) of the discharge chamber (26) is closed, with a valve (35) which can be actuated intermittently, when fluid is pumped out of the discharge chamber (26) to the receptacle point outside the rotor. <IMAGE>
