Abstract
Device is for measuring temps. in high temp. regions e.g. molten baths by luminance comprising an optical fibre to conduct the light beam from the source to a gauge. The fibre is for part of its length surrounded by a pipe with a gap between the fibre and the pipe wall used for a flow of protective gas through the inlet to prevent destruction of the fibre. The unit can be fitted inside the bottom nozzle of a steel converter and is surrounded by a refractory cpd.
