Abstract

The invention relates to a conveyor device for the optional 180 DEG rotation of books or of book blocks and can preferably be used by a stacker within a book production line. The object is to feed the books or book blocks to the subsequent stacker in such a manner that the latter is in a position to form stable stacks. Since the books or book blocks generally have an over-height spine, they have to be stacked with the spines pointing in opposite directions for each individual item or group. The essence of the invention resides in the fact that the books or book blocks, after they have been pre-stacked, are separated by an endlessly rotating conveyor system which consists of receiving bodies with rake-shaped rotating platforms and are deposited on these. After the books or book blocks have been clamped on the rotating platform, the optional rotation through 180 DEG then takes place, over a certain length of travel, by means of the shaping cam which is arranged within the conveyor device and is in engagement with the rotating platforms. After release of the clamping device, the books or book blocks are transferred onto the downstream conveyor belt, the rake-shaped rotating platforms being combed through by parallel narrow belts and the books or book blocks being deposited on them. <IMAGE>
