Abstract

A sample holder (26,28,14) is connected to a fastening component and retains one end of the sample body, with a second holder (56, 58,62) connected to a second fastening component, retaining the other end of the body. At least one of the fastening components has a part (20) which is releasably fixable in a direction transversal to the alignment direction. For alignment, a traction sample rod is fixed between the sample holders, and the sample body is subjected to a tractive load corresp. to that to be exerted as a max. during the investigation. The parts (12,46) attached to the machine are clamped in the respective machine parts. Then the traction sample rod is exchanged for a pressure sample rod, a load being applied to it corresp. to the pressure to be exerted on the sample body during the investigation. The two sections (20,24,46,54) of the fastening parts connected to the sample holders are enclosed by a cover (68), and then the reciprocal position achieved is fixed on the tippable parts (12,16) located on each side of the ball joint (18) and on the part releasably fixable crossways to the direction of alignment.
