Abstract

The boiler has at least two fluidisable beds (7,8) in which ordinary fuel e.g. coal is supplied to the first bed (7) for combustion which also takes place in the following bed (8). Alternative fuel (13) e.g. wood chips, waste wood or paper or refuse is supplied to be combusted in the second bed (8). Firing is carried out in three beds (27,28,29). Coal-only firing takes place in the first bed (27) and power is controlled by the degree of overfluidisation of the nest of first bed tubes (10). The nest of tubes (30) in the upper bed is completely exposed or partially immersed. The nest of first bed tubes is exposed to a corresp. extent if the fuel partially contains finely crushed particles. Bio fuel is supplied to the second bed (28).
