Abstract
The invention relates to a side-channel blower in which an adjustable bypass orifice is provided for the purpose of output control. In order to achieve, in the case of an open bypass, as steep as possible a blower characteristic in the side-channel blower which characteristic, with respect to its steepness, behaves similarly to the blower characteristic when the bypass is closed, the bypass orifice is formed in the wall of the side channel in the blower casing at a distance both from the inlet port and from the outlet ports of the blower. The bypass orifice is expediently situated in a range between one half and two thirds of the developed length of the side channel from the inlet port. A position in the centre between the inlet and outlet ports is preferred. The size of the cross-section of the bypass orifice is roughly inversely proportional to the distance from the inlet port, i.e. the orifice cross-section of the bypass orifice is the greater, the closer the bypass orifice is to the inlet port. For the purpose of adjusting the orifice cross-section of the bypass orifice, an adjusting device such as an adjusting screw or the like is provided.
