Abstract

The use of the following stainless steel, as material for prodn. of stainless transport and drive belts or chains, is claimed. The steel has the compsn. up to 0.03% C, 0.10% Si, up to 0.10% Mn, up to 0.025% P, up to 0.010% S, up to 0.10% Al, 6-10% Cr, 7-10% Ni, 1.8-5.5% Mo, 0.5-1.0% Ti, balance Fe and impurities. It is processed by casting, hot working, cold working with at least 25% total deformation and aging at 400-500 deg.C for 0.5-5 hrs., to obtain a ferritic-soft martensitic structure and a minimal tensile strength of over 1700 N/sq.mm.
