Abstract
In the case of a high-power plasma burner which has an actuating drive (1) for the electrode separation, the converter (5) for the arc current is controlled via a current regulator (6). In order to ensure matching of the arc path to the respective conditions, a power regulator (9) is provided which is connected on the one hand to a required-value transmitter (10) for the arc power and on the other hand to actual value transmitters (11, 17) for the arc current and the arc voltage, the actuating drive (1) for the electrode separation being connected to a position regulator (12) whose required value input can optionally be connected by means of a changeover switch (13) to the output of the power regulator (9), to a required value transmitter (14) for the electrode separation or to a required value transmitter (15) for the arc voltage. The required value input of the current regulator (6) can in this case optionally have applied to it, via a further changeover switch (7), the power regulator (9) or a required value transmitter (8) for the arc current. <IMAGE>
