Abstract

Process for manufacturing clutch plates of the type contained in clutches in which lamellae are pressed against a clutch plate which is constructed on the basis of an aluminium alloy and is provided with an abrasion-resistant surface. The clutch plates are produced by solidifying a melt of the aluminium-based alloy under pressure in a pressure mould for molten metal and applying an abrasion-resistant layer to the clutch plate. This layer comprises a chromium/carbon/iron alloy containing from 10 to 20%, preferably about 15%, of chromium and from 2 to 4% of carbon. The layer has a thickness from 0.3 to 1.0 mm and is preferably applied by a plasma spraying process.
