Abstract
The invention relates to a device for taking dipped samples from iron melts having a carbon content greater than 2 %, in particular of molten crude iron, with a flat sample cavity arranged in the direction of dipping in a probe, and an inlet channel, whose inlet orifice is located in the end face of the probe. To provide a device for taking dipped samples of iron melts, which device cools the melt within a short time and causes it to solidify in a regular and homogeneous structure, while preventing it from flowing out again of the sample cavity formed in the shape of specimens corresponding to the steel samples, it is proposed that the inlet channel (3) is provided at least partially with elements (33) having a high thermal conductivity and heat absorption capacity, and that a protective element (1) known per se covers the end face (41), or at least the inlet of the inlet channel (3).
