Abstract

Moistening means for moistening a printing block in a printing machine, particularly a printing plate in an offset printing machine, comprises a moistening roller (5), which consists of dielectric material and in which separate capacitive electrodes (4) are arranged zonally for the creation of desired different and mutually independent electric fields in spacings matched in ink zones of the printing plate, a capacitive counter- electrode (6) being associated with these electrodes outside the roller. By this means it is possible to apply the moistening medium to the printing plate zonally differentiated according to ink metering that has taken place zonally at the plate, whereby an equilibrium ratio necessary for offset printing can be maintained. In an alternative embodiment, the zonal electric fields act to effect transfer of liquid from one roller to another. <IMAGE>
