Abstract
The invention relates to a centrifugal separator for removing dust, snow and water drops from the cooling air of an electric machine. The separator comprises a cylindrical casing, an air stream guide and a trap, having an annular cross-section attached to the cylindrical casing, for the impurities. In addition, an axial counter-current fan is arranged in the cylindrical casing and, on the air outlet side of this, the axial air stream guide is arranged. This has, on the one hand, at the air outlet side of the counter-current fan, radially three-dimensionally bent guiding vanes and, on the other hand, at the end guiding vanes bent in the opposite direction. The latter guiding vanes are attached in the interior to the cylindrical trap which has an annular opening. The curvature of the guiding vanes and the distance of the top guiding vanes to the opening of the trap is decisive for the efficiency. The advantage of the invention is a considerable improvement in the separation efficiency.
