Abstract

A shunting station is provided with an incline 1 via which a track 2 runs to a points area 3. The track has a number of track brakes 5 which are arranged at a distance from one another along the descent 4 from the tip of the incline to the points area. The track brakes are set at speeds which correspond exactly or essentially to the speeds which are expected at the respective track brakes by the slowest wagon of the train which is to roll to the points area via the incline. As a result, the possibility of relatively heavy wagons rolling into the back of lighter wagons is prevented. <IMAGE>
