Abstract

A medical instrument for removal of samples from the uterus has an outer flexible tube and a flexible stylet which can be inserted in the tube. The length of the tube is about 193 mm and the stylet, which has a rounded tip, projects about 1 mm beyond the front tube end which is also rounded. At the other tube end, it is connected with a bushing in which a syringe can be inserted. The stylet also has a bushing on which a radially extending finger handle is located. A stop, preventing injury to the uterus, is pushed onto the tube. Once the instrument has been guided through the cervix until one end is in contact with the skin of the uterus, the stylet is removed and the syringe put on, and on actuation of the syringe samples of tissue can be aspirated.
