Abstract

Apparatuses for converting solid pulverous fuel to the state of combustible gas are known and comprise a cyclone and a gasification device connected thereto by a tangentially directed inlet. The object is to eliminate the requirement of a special catalyst and to utilize the moisture content, which normally can be found in the fuels and/or be supplied substantially in pulverized coal whereby it is presupposed in general that the moisture content of the fuel is increased. The gasification device, therefore, comprises a cylindric chamber (3) with a small diameter relative to the diameter of the cyclone (1), to which at one end an inlet member (4) with tangential inflow direction is attached which is in common for fuel and primary air of a certain drive pressure. Means (5;8) are provided for adding moisture to the fuel as least prior to its feed into the chamber (3), through which the mixture of fuel and air flows helically into the cyclone (1) with flame formation. A supply member (7) for secondary air to the cyclone (1) is located at the inlet (6), and the supply of primary air and secondary air is controlled so that the total amount of primary air and secondary air is smaller than the stoichiometrically corresponding one for complete combustion of the respective fuel amount supplied.
