The pliers comprise two handles (1, 2) pivotally connected to each other and carrying resiliently deflectable working jaws (9, 10) shaped to extend to a working plane, at least one of the jaws having a defector (12, 13) which enables the jaws to move past each other so that each jaw can be on one or the other side of the other jaw in the said working plane. <IMAGE>
