Abstract

A sealing device for an access lid (hatch cover) comprises an elastic seal (18) which is inserted into a U-profile. In order to facilitate a sliding movement during the end phase of closing, during which the lid wall slides along the hatch edging, and in order to obtain a sound seal without using a step in the hatch edging, which is pressed into the seal, the seal is formed with a basically V-shaped cross-sectional profile. The vertex angle alpha of the bottom area (20) of the seal is relatively large, which means that the contact surface (21) is small as long as the seal is not acted upon by any marked loading. The angle ss determines the top area (19) of the seal, which top area (19) is enclosed by the U-profile, and is noticeably smaller than the projecting angle alpha . Two passages (23) running in the longitudinal direction are formed in the seal (18), and the top side of the seal contains a wide recess (22) extending in the longitudinal direction.
