Abstract

The invention relates to a drive device for the beam system of a weaving machine. The beams of the system are driven synchronously by a drive motor at both ends via two step-up gears coupled to one another by means of a transmission shaft. The drive motor is a stepping motor which is driven by pulse compositions. The length of the switching steps of the motor can be controlled by variations of the pulse compositions. There is provided a pulse-generating device, by means of which it is possible to generate for each work cycle of the weaving machine a pulse composition which is variable in dependence on one or more settings of one or more actuating members. The respective setting of the length of the switching step of the drive motor and therefore of the beams corresponds to the density of the fabric produced on the weaving machine.
