Abstract

The apparatus comprises a luminous diode 1 and a phototransistor 2 between which the thread is guided. An evaluation circuit 12, having a first amplifier 14a, is connected to the phototransistor 2. The evaluation circuit 12 also includes a switching circuit 29a with a trigger 26 connected to a capacitor 28 and a power amplifier 29. The collector of the phototransistor 2 is connected via a coupling capacitor 13 to the base input 14 of a transistor 15 of the first amplifier 14a. The collector of the transistor 15 is connected to the input 16 of an integrated amplifier 17 of the first amplifier 14a, the inverting output 18 of which is connected with d.c. negative feedback, via a diode 19, resistors 20, 24 and a capacitor 23, to the input 14 of the first amplifier 14a. The luminous diode and the photo- transistor are attached opposite one another to a glass thread-guide eyelet which, like the evaluation circuit, is cast in an epoxy resin block. <IMAGE>
