Abstract

Iron-based alloys contain 4-9% wt. Al, 3-15wt.% Mn and the remainder Fe. Alloys have reduced corrosion/oxidn. and improved physical properties. They are cheaper than stainless steel. Pref. alloy includes up to 6 wt.% Cr,carbon and several rare earth elements. These alloys have high ductility at the use temp. with satisfactory malleability at room temp. (Provisional Basic previously advised in Week 8406).
