Abstract

The power supply for a diagnostic probe has an AC connection from the control box to the probe and with an AC/DC converter in the probe to generate the DC monitoring signals. The connection is via a fixed bias line. The system allows a controlled power supply with suitable decoupling to prevent injury to the patient and without any losses, as with DC transmission. The AC/DC converter operates identical to one in the power supply, while the signal is transmitted by a frequency controlled signal on the AC supply.
