Abstract

A bib can be formed by folding a rectangular sheet about the centreline of the sheet. At the one end, there are straps 5 for fastening the bib around the neck of the user. At the opposite end, the end edges of the sheet 4 are glued together to form a pocket when the sheet is unfolded. This sticking-together along a straight line at right angles to the fold line 2 produces, however, an unstable pocket, which has a tendency to collapse and fall to one side. In order to ensure a fully open pocket which does not have this tendency to capsize and collapse, the gluing- together is effected along an oblique line running from a point 1 up against the fold line 2 to a substantially corresponding point 3 close to the end edge 4 and from there out to the side edge. A natural-shaped pocket bottom is in this case retained, which automatically unfolds, as it were, by (falling down) against the chest when the bib is applied to its user. Further, the strap 5 can emerge when an intermediate piece of sheet 6 is torn off along a perforation 7. This forms a napkin, which is indispensable in wiping the user after the bib has been used. <IMAGE>
