Abstract

A device for a felling unit, which is designed to be hinge-mounted in a crane's boom (7) via a link system, which is comprised of a slewing bracket (9) and a horizontal support axle (8), that connects the hinged felling unit with the slewing bracket (9), in which the felling device is comprised of a grab device (1), that is formed of two units interacting with each other and of a piston cylinder (5) manoeuvrable grip claws and the mentioned support axle (8) supporting frame (4), to which the grip claws are radial mounted, one at the named frame (4) fixed frame support (21) for initial use against a tree-trunk (20); as well as a felling device fixed to the frame (12), which is set up under the gripping device (1) seen in the felling unit's operative position at the tree-trunk. According to the invention, the felling device includes a lifting device for the swinging up of the felling device from the passive position, in which it freely swings around the support axle (10) to an active position, in which the felling device with its gripping claws forms an angle with the slewing bracket (9) and is, with the gripping claws open, ready for use against a tree-trunk, whose lifting device includes a piston cylinder, that is fixed to the frame at a distance from the support axle and a mechanical connection device, that is connected to the support axle (10) and designed in order to be affected by the piston cylinder's piston rod for the generation of a traction force in the connection device with accompanying upward singing of the felling device around the support axle (10).<IMAGE>
