Abstract

Chip-comminution vehicle for comminuting trees and the like to form chips, especially chips of combustible material, having a cross-country tractor with an engine, with a chip comminutor, with tools for cutting down (felling) and for lifting trees, so that they can be introduced into the chip comminutor, and furthermore with a member for connection to a container device serving for collecting the comminuted chips. To obtain a chip-comminution vehicle, by means of which even a first dig can be carried out with minimum damage to the ground or to trees still standing, and moreover to avoid an incorrect selection as a consequence of a necessary range of activity for the vehicle, the tractor is of the small-tractor type and can be designed for walking drivers. The conventional crane with a reach of a plurality of meters in the lateral direction is exchanged for a catching and lifting head which is mounted on the chip comminutor via a parallel link system for the purpose of felling trees with roots and of lifting an upright tree to the chip comminutor. Since the head cannot be moved laterally outside the vehicle, the vehicle width and the vehicle weight can be reduced, whilst ensuring the same stability against tipping over. The operating capacity is thereby extended. The container arrangement can be an exchangeable bag.
