Abstract

One end of a cable (9) is inserted into a tubular mandrel (1) for a distance which is greater than the length of the helix which is to be wound. The cable (9) is wound around the mandrel (1) as far as a terminating nipple (3), the terminating nipple (3) being attached to the mandrel (1). One end of the cable (9) is clamped in by means of a bush (4) to which the cable (9) is fixed thermally in a manner known per se. After cooling, the cable (9) is pulled off the mandrel (1) and the part which is wound in a helical shape is reversed, in that the inner part of the cable (9), which runs through the part which is wound in a helical shape is pulled through. <IMAGE>
